  2. A Different Form of Watercolor

Dark Vases

This series is based on the dye and water concept, but I am trying to do it in dark-field. This is turning out to be more challenging. I add a scatterer (milk or Maalox) to the water, and the trick is to get the 'bowl' of the vase or glass to be uniformly illuminated inside, so the scatterer appears even. Also, every dust and scratch in the glass shows up in dark-field, much of which gets cleaned up in post-processing. Later pictures use watercolor pigments instead of milk or Maalox and dye.
